A garden sauna is an investment that pays off every single evening. Your own place to relax just a few steps from your door, without reservations and without sharing a bench with strangers, at any time of day or year, even in the middle of winter. At SAUNADO, we combine Finnish design with production in the European Union: our saunas are crafted from Nordic spruce and thermowood, and the heart of every cabin is a heater from the Finnish brand Harvia, which has been setting the standard for sauna culture for decades.

When ordering an outdoor sauna from SAUNADO, you receive a complete set without hidden costs: delivery across the EU and the UK is calculated at checkout, and if you do not wish to assemble the cabin yourself, you can order assembly as a service. Financing options are available through Klarna, and you receive a 2-year warranty on your sauna.

Not sure where to start? Below you will find a short guide: the difference between a barrel, a cube, and a panorama, which heater will work best for your plot, and what actually influences the price of a sauna.

Which garden sauna is best: barrel, cube, or panorama?

The shape of the structure is the first decision when choosing a sauna for your garden. The good news is that there are no wrong answers, only different needs.

The barrel sauna is a true classic and the most popular outdoor sauna in Europe. The circular cross-section allows hot air to circulate naturally along the walls, meaning the cabin heats up faster and uses less energy than a rectangular structure of the same volume. The barrel looks great next to both traditional houses and in woodland settings, and it is the most affordable entry into the world of sauna culture: the R-UKU 130 model is a popular choice.

The cube sauna is the choice for those looking for a modern garden sauna. The minimalist form, flat roof, and large glass fronts make the cube look like a well-thought-out architectural element rather than an added shed. It perfectly complements barn-style houses and modern gardens. Prices for cubes start with the ICON model.

The panoramic sauna focuses on the view: a tempered glass wall opens the cabin to the garden, forest, or water. A session at sunset or with a view of a snow-covered garden is an experience that no commercial SPA can replicate. The R-SONIA 130 mini-panorama is a standout option.

Practical tip: for 2–3 people, a compact cabin with a length of about 130–200 cm is sufficient. If you plan to sauna in a larger group or want a changing room, choose a longer structure. You will find exact dimensions and the number of bench seats in the product descriptions.

Garden sauna with an electric or wood-burning heater?

All our saunas are equipped with Harvia heaters, a Finnish manufacturer whose devices operate in saunas worldwide. You can choose between an electric or wood-burning version.

The electric heater offers daily convenience: turn it on, set the temperature, and after about an hour, step into a heated cabin. You don't need a chimney, fuel storage, or to clean out ashes, and you control the temperature with degree-level precision. The heater requires a power supply (usually 400 V), and the power is selected based on the cabin's volume.

The wood-burning heater is the sauna ritual in its full glory: the crackle of logs, the delicate scent of smoke, and the heat you build with your own hands. It operates completely independently of electricity, making it perfect for recreational plots without a connection. It requires a chimney (which you can select in the sauna configuration) and a place for dry firewood.

You don't have to decide right away: you choose the type and power of the heater when configuring a specific model.

Our ambassador, Radosław "Radek" Sieraj, Polish Saunaring Champion (The Battle of Gladiators, Aufguss-WCF 2026) and World Championship qualifier, ensures our sessions are perfectly guided. His domain is the aufguss: a ceremony where pouring water over stones, towel work, and music blend into one rhythm. Every SAUNADO garden sauna — barrel, cube, or panorama — is a space ready for such a ritual: with a Harvia heater maintaining a stable temperature and an interior where steam circulates exactly as it should. You can find the basics of the ceremony in our guide sauna culture and rituals.

How much does a garden sauna cost and what affects the price?

Prices for garden saunas at SAUNADO start with the AURA 130; the R-UKU 130 barrel and ICON cubes are also available at competitive price points. For comparison, indoor saunas are available if you prefer to install a cabin inside your home.

Several elements influence the final price:

    • Cabin size — the longer the structure and the more bench space, the higher the price, but also the higher the comfort when sauna culture as a couple or with friends.
    • Type of wood — Nordic spruce is a proven standard, while thermowood is darker, more durable, and more dimensionally stable, allowing it to better withstand years of outdoor use.
    • Heater and its power — electric and wood-burning versions differ in price, and more powerful heaters for larger cabins cost more accordingly.
    • Glass fronts — panoramic tempered glass increases the price but completely transforms the character of the session.
    • Add-ons and services — LED lighting, sauna stones, assembly, or crane unloading are selected according to your needs in the product configurator.

Delivery across the EU and the UK is added to every sauna at checkout. Financing options are available (Klarna), and the structure is covered by a 2-year warranty.

Frequently asked questions about garden saunas

Does a garden sauna require a building permit?

In most cases, no. Small, single-storey outbuildings usually do not require a full building permit, and a typical garden sauna falls well within these limits. However, it is worth checking local planning regulations and maintaining the required distances from property boundaries. If in doubt, a quick check with your local planning office will help.

Does a garden sauna need electricity?

This depends on the heater. A sauna with a Harvia electric heater requires a connection (usually 400 V), and the connection should be performed by a qualified electrician. A sauna with a wood-burning heater works without electricity; power is only useful for lighting. If your plot does not have an electrical connection, a wood-burning heater is the natural choice.

How long is the lead time for a garden sauna?

The standard lead time is 8–10 weeks from placing the order. Each cabin is assembled to a specific configuration (type of wood, heater, glass fronts), so we confirm the exact date after purchase. Delivery across the EU and the UK is calculated at checkout, and assembly can be ordered as a service together with the sauna.

Can a garden sauna be used in winter?

Yes, winter is actually the best season for sauna culture. Nordic spruce and thermowood are resistant to frost and moisture, and Harvia heaters heat the cabin to 80–100°C even in sub-zero temperatures. The contrast between the hot interior and the freezing air is the essence of a Finnish garden sauna. This is exactly how they are used in Scandinavia all year round.
