Alternative: sauna plus freestanding outdoor shower

Do you already have a sauna or have you found a model without an integrated water zone? Place a shower next to it. A freestanding VD02 outdoor shower (from PLN 4,750) or VD03 made of thermowood (from PLN 6,500) can be placed a meter from the cabin entrance — and the VD03 thermowood will naturally harmonize with the sauna's facade and withstand rain, frost, and sun for years. Where to get water for the shower at an outdoor sauna?

Simply: from a garden water connection, just like for a tap on the facade. The shower is connected with a hose or permanently to the installation; the drain can be directed to the sewage system, a soakaway, or drainage. For a typical session, water consumption is low — it's a short, refreshing cool-down, not a bath.

Does the shower at the sauna work in winter?

Yes, provided the installation is protected from frost — for the winter season, a drain valve and emptying the pipes after a session are sufficient. The contrast itself works best in winter: stepping out of a heated cabin into cold water at sub-zero temperatures is the essence of Nordic sauna bathing and excellent cold resistance training.

How does R-APPO differ from a sauna with a separate shower next to it?

Integration. In R-APPO, the cooling zone is part of the structure — you cool down under a roof, without going out into the wind and rain, and the whole thing takes up less space than two separate objects. A sauna with a freestanding shower, however, offers more freedom of arrangement and allows you to equip an existing cabin without replacing it with a new one.

Is a shower enough for cooling, or is a tub needed?

A shower is completely sufficient — it's a classic, gradual cool-down, ideal also for beginners. A cold water tub is a more intense variant for the seasoned: full immersion and stronger contrast. Many of our clients start with a shower and add a tub after the first winter.
